You've probably seen this fish somewhere before. It could have been in a fountain, water source or even lakes and rivers.

Carps are one of the most popular fish in the world and they live in the human imagination when we talk about ornamental fish.

Common carp have been bred for food for a long time, and historical records of their captive breeding date back to ancient Rome.

The common carp is originally found in Eurasia, but when the Chinese invaded Japan 200 BC, these fish were used for farming, mainly for food, as they were very adaptable to Japanese conditions.

The colorful varieties, known as Nishikigoi, appeared in Japan around the 18th century, from mutations of common carp raised for food.

Observing the existence of this mutation, we started working on their genetics and currently there are more than one hundred different types of Nishikigoi.

They are beautiful, colorful, resistant, docile and with a long life. Characteristics that make them the perfect choice for those who want to keep fish as a pet.

Carp are peaceful fish and are able to create a relationship with their creator, eating the food in hand and even recognizing it when it approaches.

They live an average of 70 years and can be companions for life.

When we think of large urban centers, perhaps the presence of fish and clean water is not something that immediately comes to mind.

But there are places in the world that deconstruct this idea and present us with beautiful scenes of carp living in the middle of the city in clear water sources. Among these places, we can highlight the city of Shimabara, Japan.

There are several clear water channels that run throughout the city and in them we can find very interesting inhabitants. The carps.

With so much clean water in the city, the authorities decided to release carp in these places and they thrived throughout the city. Shimabara today is known as the City of Koi.

Shimabara along with some other Japanese cities are the only places in the world where you can witness amazing scenes like this.

This abundance of water in Shimabara is originated by the eruption of the Mount Unzen Volcano, which gave rise to a profusion of fresh and crystalline water springs.

Today the city is a popular tourist destination in Japan and impresses us with its beauty and the beauty of the carp that live in it.

Japanese carp carry a beautiful history, making them one of the most famous fish in the world.

They have become the main ornamental fish, symbol of many legends and perhaps the best pet fish you can find.

Cities with koi are beautiful and make our life more beautiful and pleasant.
